Dairis Bertāns is one of the most recognizable and charismatic Latvian basketball players, known to fans for his relentless work ethic, fighting spirit, and true athlete’s passion. For 15 years, he has been a member of the Latvian national team, and in recent years – its captain, inspiring the squad on and off the court with his calm confidence and high professional standards.

In 2025, Dairis represents VEF Riga, continuing to uphold his leadership role in the Latvian–Estonian Basketball League and the LBL. Throughout his career, he has played for several top-level European clubs — Bilbao “Bizkaia Basket,” Milan “Olimpia,” and also experienced an NBA chapter with the New Orleans “Pelicans.” In the EuroLeague, Dairis has played 123 games, placing him third among all Latvian basketball players.

He is a six-time LBL champion, but numbers are not what define Dairis best. What defines him is his attitude, his ability to achieve goals, and his unwavering belief in the strength of Latvian basketball. The national team has always been his favorite team — the place where he plays with the greatest heart and pride. Today, Dairis Bertāns is not only an experienced professional, but also an important figure in Latvian basketball who continues to elevate our sport’s name on the international stage.
